The new Bay Bridge San Francisco-Oakland.

On September 5, 2013 was inaugurated the new bridge that links together the cities of San Francisco with Oakland, California.

Its design allows withstand an earthquake of 6.9 degrees MW (moment magnitude), similar to what happened in this area on October 17, 1989, and any other possible within the next 1.500 years (according to statistics).

It consists of a braced section and the rest as viaduct, giving a total length of 3.5 km for the bridge.

Its construction spanned 11 years, beginning in 2002 and ending in 2013, and had a cost of $ 6,400,000,000 dollars. It is contemplated to have a lifespan of 150 years.
